The Impact of Personal Transformation on Societal Transformation

The more I have grown spiritually, the more my heart has developed a desire to want to serve others and to make the world a better place for all beings (humans, animals, and nature). But as many great spiritual leaders have said, we must tend our own garden first. We must find inner peace before we can affect outer peace, etc. Often these transformations occur simultaneously, however. It is unlikely we will ever achieve spiritual perfection, so we must try to make a difference in the world as we are growing spiritually.

This has been my own journey and I hope it will be something that you will experience yourself. It can be a scary and difficult process questioning one’s beliefs, but I believe it is important and it helps one to grow and develop. Religious leaders and groups that get in the way of questioning and personal growth oftentimes teach belief systems that create stereotypes, prejudice, and hatred toward certain kinds of people. This is not healthy for the followers of those religions, or those outside those religions. This is why I believe it is important to keep an open mind and be willing to learn about different belief systems and philosophies. Given the diversity and divisiveness in our world today, this is needed more than ever.

I hope you will join me in exploring the spiritual wonders of our world and let go of the guilt trips that may be holding you back. When I realized that that guilt was created by those who did not love and appreciate me for who I am, and who did not have my best interests at heart, it was much easier for me to move forward with my life in a new direction. I am much more at peace now than I was then, and I hope you will find your own personal and interpersonal peace as well. Let us join together to make a better world for all people, no matter what their spiritual beliefs may be. Let us unify together under the common identity of being human, by loving one another, and caring for our Earth, so that we may thrive together now and forevermore.
